Ron Callanan was a wonderful and loving husband, father, father in law, brother, uncle & friend to us all. Saying he will be missed is an understatement. He wanted nothing more than to love my Mom, Me, his Brothers, Sisters, Nieces Nephews and Friends. He was a true blessing to all of our lives, and for that I am eternally grateful.
He suffered from COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder) among other things, but COPD was his biggest battle, which ultimately took him from us way too soon. This disease prevented him from enjoying the last years of his life. His dreams of taking advantage of his retirement never came true. He wanted to travel with my Mom. He wanted to hunt, he wanted to fish, but most of all he just wanted to breathe. Over his birthday weekend just a few weeks ago, he confided in my husband, Dad said that he just wanted to wake up in the morning and be able to take a deep breath.
With that said, we are asking that you all donate to the COPD Foundation in his honor in lieu of sending flowers. Nothing can bring him back to us, but donations to the COPD Foundation could help someone else's loved one. For each $1.00 donated, $.98 cents goes to fund research, physician education, early diagnosis, enhanced therapy and advocacy.
Dad would have given anyone he loved the shirt off his back if they needed it. In his honor, lets give back to him and help those that still have a fighting chance. Let's help someone achieve my Dad's dream, let's help someone breathe.
Thank you all for your continued love and support.
